"'Would you mind if I took some pictures while you throw him the ball?'

As we started the walk in the park, I saw a man dressed in scrubs throwing his dog a ball in the distance. With the recent heavy rain in southern Louisiana, the park was badly flooded; so, as the dog chased after the ball, water was awesomely slung everywhere. Before worry or fear of awkwardness had a second to cause hesitation, I quickly walked over to him (getting my shoes and pants soaked) to introduce myself and ask if he’d like some photos his dog. With a big smile, “Man, if you only knew how bad of a day my wife had today; we both adore our dog, and it would absolutely make her day if you took and sent us some photos.” So, for the next 30 minutes, we talked as I clicked away. As the sun was beginning to go down, we shook hands, exchanged contact information, and went our separate ways. Two timelines that, without seizing an opportunity, may have never crossed. A friendship was made, a wife (hopefully) went to sleep feeling less heavy last night, and I walked away feeling a sense of joy myself.
