Kathryn and I walked into the Mohave airport cafe looking for a sandwich or a bag of chips. We had just climbed Mount Shasta off the 395, in prep for "Everest". That area is like living on each letter of a Sam Shepard short story. When we walked in we saw an older gentleman sticking red topped pins into a map on the wall, one leg on the ground, with the other a knee resting on a blue leather booth chair. I asked him what he was doing and he said, "Just mapping out an old flight I took a while back." It turned out that flight was the first non-stop piloting around the world.
