While traveling in the highlands in #Peru we ran into a small group of #Vicuńa. They are one of several camelids found in the Andes, and have the rarest, most expensive fur. Where llama is bred as a pack animal, vicuña has mainly been herded for their incredibly soft coats, coats sought after for fabric that prices at thousands of dollars.
Vicuña thrive in the high alpine regions, and locals say that the fur is much softer when they are allowed to roam the high altitude plains uninterrupted.
