Central Jersey Volleyball Academy in the Garden Empire Volleyball Association (GEVA) has long held an interest in giving back to the community while at the same time getting new players introduced to the sport of volleyball. While more than a thousand miles away from home playing in the #GJNC, they are still doing that by taking part in the Leave a Ball Behind Program as they depart New Orleans. Andrea Salazar (@absalazar05), the club's 16 Black head coach and director of player development, says the ball program is a way to pay it forward. "Just to have a new kid somewhere to pick up the ball and fall in love with the sport that I have seen so many of our players fall in love with is rewarding. That would be a great thing." The Leave a Ball Behind campaign takes in gently used volleyballs with signed messages of encouragement to those who receive the ball. Giving back is not new for the club. "Our older girls in CJVA run volleyball clinics for our local Girl Scouts to introduce them into the sport of volleyball. We actually have got a lot of girls interested in coaching that way, along with younger players introduced to the sport."
