#tbt Look at this skinny little prick. 15 years ago this week my life / lives of Americans everywhere changed when Comedy Central Presented... me. This special would become my welcome to the big time kid moment. I had no idea that it would end up being the most played comedy special to this day. It's aired thousands of times and grew my fan base by the millions as I toured non stop for a decade straight. Why did I wear that outfit? Comedy Central had picked out something for me to wear from my original few outfits but I was not feeling those outfits. My mother and I had a conversation and she said "why don't you wear a muscle shirt?" I said, "I don't think they will let me." She replied, "who the f cares what they think you're the performer and you should wear that so people can see your body when you're doing your physical stuff." I thought that was a good idea and I also thought this show would air twice at 3am and never again after that so who would care anyways. Ha -- Hi, I'm Dane Cook and my names on the drum. That was my idea the night before so the 22 people that tuned in would remember I had a name. The day of the taping was a disaster. The earlier shows ran way late and by the time they got to my taping people were treating me like shit and making me feel uncomfortable for asking questions and wanting this to work at all. I was told to stick to my 26 minutes that was planned and in the Teleprompter. I was told if I went past midnight there would be union fines and all hell would break loose. When I got out onstage I basically said fuck it and told them to turn off the monitors because I was not going to follow the set list and they turned it off. I was also told not to look at the cameras and I ended up laying down and talking directly to America and touching the cameras something no one had don't before. I ran over midnight and saw people offstage pointing and yelling with my manager but at this point I was completely rouge. I did everything the opposite and felt AMAZING out there. When I walked offstage a rep from the network was pissed that I didn't do a certain ending I said I would do and they made me go back out and explain to everyone
