Happy Olympic Day!
Pictured here is Eric Liddell- from Scotland, one of my greatest heroes/role models and one of many athletes I really look up to! He was a very strong christian who didn't want to compete in his favourite event- the 100m at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris because the heats were on a Sunday and because of his faith in God he felt he shouldn't run on the Sunday because of it being the sabbath. So he entered the 400m and won gold!!! Such an inspiration! He then went to be a missionary in China where he sadly later died in a Japanese civilian internment camp in 1945, aged only 43. If you haven't already..you should watch Chariots of fire- an amazing movie about him and another athlete Harold Abrahams!

Erics legacy is so inspiring to me, being a Christian athlete also as I chase my Olympic dream, running for God!
