En route to Namibia's Skeleton Coast, the mostly barren landscape is littered with Kokerbome, or Quiver Trees. The local Bushman use the tubular branches as quivers for their arrows, as the tree is actually a succulent aloe whose hollow trunk is filled mostly with water. Also of relevant interest: the Bushman apparently shoot sprigs of spear grass at the behinds of potential lady-friends, and her reaction determines the fate of the relationship. Fun facts learned on Namibian safari, and certainly one of coolest looking trees I've seen.
