A struggling musician mourning the loss of a band mate finds unexpected chemistry and vulnerability with a married woman that challenges both of their moral boundaries. Brilliantly avoiding typical love story clichés in favor of authentic, intelligent depictions of complex human emotions, Matt McGorry, Amy Hargreaves and Mark Blum’s performances magnificently add to the film’s integrity by inhabiting these wonderfully flawed characters. Director Marc Meyers has beautifully rendered a nuanced story about a real adult relationship, too rarely seen on film these days. With measured and intentional pacing, the unfolding story feels organic and the character’s desires palpable. This sexy film is a testament to how people meet and fall in love – not lust – with honesty and realness.
