Located at 10300 Santa Monica Blvd., in Los Angeles, “The Barn” was the home and studio of famed Case Study architect A. Quincy Jones and his wife Elaine Sewell Jones. Originally a photography studio, the building was renovated by Jones in 1965 after his own home burned in a hillside fire. Good friends of Charles and Ray Eames, both Jones and Sewell Jones were connected to Herman Miller in various ways. The architect designed the master plan for Herman Miller's Zeeland, MI Mainsite facility in 1972 and oversaw a subsequent renovation that updated the George Nelson-designed structure. Sewell Jones served as Herman Miller's public relations consultant in the 1950's and 60's.
