#Repost @ericcolsen with @repostapp. ・・・ I just experienced one of the most humanity affirming moments of my adult life. I was waiting outside a restaurant for my to-go order DEEP in the shady part of Venice when 2 gangsters ran by, grabbed my iphone out of my hands, and kept running. Instinct (or too many years on a silly TV show) kicked in and I sprinted after them yelling, “motherfucker stole my phone!” I chased them for 2 blocks in my flips flops before kicking them off and continuing to sprint through the streets of Venice in my bare-feet. Then something AMAZING happened, people started running with me. First one guy…then two…and by block 5 we had three guys running with me, side by side, then two guys on bikes. At this point we had been running at a full sprint for probably 1/4 mile, and the gangsters were exhausted. As they ran into an alley we FUCKING CAUGHT THEM. The guy in the picture above (Dillinger) was on his beach cruiser, he jumped off it and yelled “You ain’t from here, you can’t pull that shit in Venice!” I (dying for oxygen) said "put the fucking phone down and walk away” Full blown Western Stand-off...these two gangsters looked at this crazy mob of 6 strangers…then one of them took the phone out of his pocket, put it on the trash can, and they both ran away. It's moments like these that make you believe in Humanity. Moments like these make you believe in the future of us all in the face of the unknown. People argue that we are corrupt as a species, that we are on the brink of Chaos, with the Lord of the Flies mentality waiting to tear us apart. But then this: 5 complete strangers, different in race, ethnicity, and age, came to the aide of a man that they had never met, ran through the streets of Venice with him, chased down gangsters with him, and made the world right again. That's fucking beautiful. I was so jacked up on Adrenaline, The only picture i got was of me and Dillinger. You are a beautiful man sir, and i applaud your soul.
