You fear you’re not cut out for this life you built. Remove your hands entirely from your view. Take a good look. Because what you’ll find is not a future. What you’ll find is the space in front of you. The air you’re breathing. The ground beneath you. And if you’re lucky, a couple of dogs to lighten the mood. The next few months are immaterial. I want to remind you, right now, in this moment, in this space, that it will work out. How do I know? Because it always has. Every heavy moment, every daunting next moment, it works out. The more daunting an approaching change or challenge, the louder we must ask “what will I do right now?”. As you feel that weight of the future, or an anchor to the past, turn yourself around. Do it physically if you need to. Pet a dog, make your bed, make a list, put “make my bed” on that list and cross it off, call a friend, ask what advice you’d give a dear friend in the same situation, and be that friend for yourself. Time and time again you ask yourself: can I handle this? And time and time again you make it through. Remember, your brain will find ways to prove you right. If you believe you can't handle what's coming, you'll find evidence of this. If you know you can, again, you'll find evidence. Sometimes you're rewarded with success, sometimes you're rewarded with failure. The future is immaterial. Show up for yourself today. Soon, today will be immaterial, but you’ll thank yourself for showing up.」8月15日 4時25分 - andrewknapp

A letter to me, today:

Things seem impossible sometimes. You peer through the cracks in your fingers and look reluctantly at the looming weeks and months. You wonder if it’s even possible that you’ll make it through.

Soon, today will be immaterial, but you’ll thank yourself for showing up.
