It’s still missing and its inexplicable loss has thrown me into even more of an inexplicable funk. I’ve had luggage go missing from time to time but they’ve always come back to me within a week. When guy on the very unhelpful British Airways helpline conceded, “To be honest if it’s not been found now, you will have to face up to it being gone,” I have since started spiralling over every single thing in the case. As I fill out a futile claims form, to claim back things that cannot really be replaced like for like, I’ve been wondering WHY I’ve been thrown into this sad-faced stupor. I’ve been looking at my jewellery box angrily going, “Urgh the 2016 Prada crystal necklace!” I’ve been looking at random e-commerce sites to see if some @hyeinantwerp top is still floating about. I’ve been thinking whether said designer will remake a past season top (no, I’m not going to ask - that’s just dumb). Wah wah-ing about a lost suitcase on social media is admittedly a bit silly. Like crying into an eye-rolling ether. “You CHOSE to get on the flight and check your stuff in GIRL!” It is of course NOTHING in the WIDER scheme of things but the accumulation of supposed meaningless “STUFF” is linked to the best of times I’ve had in my adolescent and adult life. The vintage shop around the world buys. The basket of goodies from the 3am Don Quixote Japanese cosmetics run. The gifts from people I love. The things that I’ve come to rely on as routine and faithful. Now… if someone can help me source a ruffled Anna Sui x Henry Bendel blouse that would be ace.」6月15日 22時41分
