I remember as a school girl I had absolutely no clue about makeup, the extent of my skills ran to using some of my mums long discarded blusher as eyeshadow and smudging a black pencil around my eyes like a wonky panda! As a young woman I wouldn’t leave my house without absolutely caking myself in makeup to the point of being unrecognisable. And here, now, as a hard working mother my makeup skills stretch to a flick of foundation and a bit of eyebrow powder if I’m feeling fancy. Maybe once a month I’ll try some mascara then remember how much it makes my lashes feel like hell and ruins my white satin pillowcases, vowing never to use it again! How times have changed, how thankful I am to have stopped trying to escape myself by changing my appearance to please others, instead thankfully finding peace in being perfectly and imperfectly me.
