@trixiemattel is inspired by Barbie. Maybe that’s why there are 12 @バービー heads in her hair. “I mean, she’s as real as anybody to me,” Trixie said. “In society we are what we’re dressed as. If you’re backstage, wearing all black with a headset on, you’re a stage manager. And with Barbie, it’s the same toy from the same mold from the same factory, but if she has a lab coat on, she’s a vet. If she has an astronaut suit on, she’s an astronaut. Drag is a parody of all that. Everyone knows we’re not what we’re dressing as.” Trixie is the drag alter ego of Brian Firkus. Drag Queens are meant to have a multitude of talents, from comedy to singing. “I’ve always said drag queens are like Swiss Army knives,” @trixiemattel said. “Most come from having to take $50-a-show pay and doing their own costume, wig, music and jokes.” @choutoo took this photo of #TrixieMattel while on assignment for @nytmag.
